Strategies of Work
The Ban Ki-moon Foundation believes that a better, brighter future is possible for all – and that that we must continue to call for bold, ethical leadership at all levels of society if we are to see significant change in our lifetimes.
We urge for increased commitment from governments, cities, businesses, and industries to enhance continued recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and accelerate achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals – to reduce carbon emission, conserve natural resources, create better jobs, advance gender equality, racial equity and tackle growing poverty, and advance universal access to high quality healthcare and other systemic inequalities.
We believe that historically excluded communities facing the brunt of these challenges must play crucial leadership roles in addressing these systemic issues, and that we need to accelerate investment in women and youth as current and future leaders of this work both locally and globally.
Through integrated strategies of Leadership Development, Education and Advocacy, and Advancing SDG Solutions, we are dedicated to leveraging our global platform to make a transformative impact on the world's most pressing challenges.
LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
The world requires visionary leaders who can navigate the complexities of our global landscape. Our Leadership Development strategy focuses on cultivating a diverse and robust pool of leaders and movements ready to implement local solutions for the SDGs and advocate for change globally, with a focus on women, youth, indigenous communities and others who have historically faced marginalization and underinvestment. Through targeted trainings, network building efforts, and providing platforms for emerging voices, we're shaping a resilient community prepared to drive current SDG advancements as well as influence the global agenda for prosperity beyond 2030.
EDUCATION AND ADVOCACY
Driving real change involves influencing policy, attitudes, and commitments across sectors. Our Education and Advocacy strategy aims to elevate crucial issues at the crossroads of gender, racial, and economic justice aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals and Paris Climate Agreement. Through convenings, campaigns, and strategic advocacy, we aim to mobilize decision-makers and increase financial commitments for a more sustainable and just future for all.
ADVANCING SDG SOLUTIONS
Solutions that genuinely transform our world often emerge from the very communities most affected by the challenges. Our Advancing SDGs Solutions strategy centers on catalytic investments and scaling of locally and transnationally-led initiatives by emerging leaders from historically underinvested communities. We do this through catalytic financial support, technical assistance, and promotion of cross-sector partnerships to bring their local solutions to the global stage.
